Hobbies create natural work-life boundaries

I didn’t used to have any hobbies. I don’t know whether it was because I’d not taken time to explore what I liked. Or whether it was easier to fill any spare time I had with work. Probably a combination of both. I started paddle boarding in 2019 on holiday in Crete. I enjoyed it enough to buy all the gear when I returned to the UK, but had quite low expectations. I thought it might be the equivalent of the souvenir which looks great on holiday but out of place at home. Paddle boarding has not been like that. It always exceeds my expectations. The beauty & calm of nature. Since taking it up, I’ve gained some fellow boarders. First MrR & now my brother & sister-in-law. We could have postponed yesterday’s trip because it was cold & threatening rain. So glad we didn’t. The weekends set you up for the week, don’t they? #worklifebalance #boundaries #hobbies #wellbeing

Optimise Your Time, Health & Energy

20 years ago, just before I started my business, I went to see a health consultant. She stuck my feet in a bath and the ‘toxins’ came out. To this day, I still have no idea what this was. Afterwards she gave me a consultation on how best to manage my energy through food. Not only did I think it was a bit woo woo, I also took my energy for granted. I was 32, full of energy and with my foot on the gas 24/7, with a bit of sleep in between. That was until I didn’t have any energy. Bit by bit, there’s been lots of brilliant people that have helped me along the way and I did get there in the end. Changing what I ate and reducing my stress triggers changed my life, for good, for the better. I crave veg. Anyone else? I still don’t crave fruit. Anyway, it’s that time of year when I swap salads for soups. Soups are so much easier. Over the Summer hols lunch has taken ages to prepare 🤣, especially as there were often 3 different requirements. I had words in the end. This is not a restaurant!! In the olden days it was just me, a box of batch cooking & my dooogs for lunch. I love the company though 🥰. Batch cooking saves me so much time and increases my chances of healthy eating, otherwise I grab what’s easiest. As you know, I’m trying to educate myself further by using Zoe. Here’s another Zoe recipe: Cauliflower Soup. Even Mike liked it and he’s not a soup fan. INGREDIENTS: Cauliflower Onion Lemon juice Olive oil Vegetable stock STEP 1: Roast your cauliflower for 35 minutes at 220°C. You can see mine is pretty burnt. Although it added more flavour. I like to think it was caramelised 🤣. STEP 2: Brown your onion. Add garlic followed by the roasted cauliflower and stock. STEP 3: Blend. Add salt, pepper and lemon juice to taste. Podcast Episode 32: Chapter 8 - Develop Your Inner Captain to Dissolve Your Inner Critic

In this episode, I dive into Chapter 8 of my bestselling book  Inner Brilliance: Outer Shine, 10 Antidotes to Imposter Syndrome, Workaholism & Stress, which focuses on how to develop an inner captain and take charge of your thoughts. Key Topics Covered: • I explore how to develop an “inner captain” to take charge of your thoughts and beliefs. • I share personal stories, including my experience with imposter syndrome and a cancer diagnosis, to show how mindset tools work in real life. • I discuss the impact of negative self-talk and how reframing thoughts can change your emotional state and outcomes. • I reveal practical strategies like journaling, havening, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and positive affirmations, to manage stress and negativity. • I talk about the importance of gratitude and how focusing on what’s good in your life helps you to stay positive and become happier. • I explain how I interrupt negative thought patterns—sometimes with humour, distraction, or even singing! • I highlight the dangers of comparison, especially on social media, and how you can bring your focus back to your own journey. • I encourage listeners to process emotions rather than suppress them, using various tools. • I remind you that negative feelings are temporary, and that we have the power to choose our response. Purpose Driven Leadership

I love new beginnings. The chance to reflect & protect what’s been brilliant to date. Then project & create expectations about what will be brilliant in the future. The topic of yesterday’s first session: the power of purpose driven leadership. It’s that spark that makes you leap out of bed and how we make a difference to others’ lives. It’s the kind of leadership that doesn’t require prompting, it naturally attracts like-minded people who want to follow your example. It’s the activities you don’t have to be asked to perform, which give you zest and vigour. Isn’t it great when you stumble upon this? Equally isn’t it great when you actively seek & find it ✨ Everyone benefits. That’s why I was doing a spontaneous finger dance 🤣…it’s the start of a team’s adventure. #NextLevelLeadershipProgramme #LeadershipDevelopment #leadershipcoach #OptimisingYourBrilliance
